We install our "front end" (leadpipe, slides, and valve caps) to the factory horn in addition to some major rebuilding. The result is superb indeed and certainly rivals a number of custom made instruments. This horn is played by students, college horn majors, and pros alike.

These pictures illustrate our rebuilding techniques. This work is in addition to replacing the leadpipe and rebuilding the main and aux F tuning slides. We perform these modifications to ensure that the bore remains smooth and constant with no gaps or bumps. After disassembly, bore is checked and in most cases expanded to the proper diameter, then the tubes are fit in order to leave no gaps. The ferrules are then sized to properly fit the tubes and resoldered. These changes make a huge difference, in some cases, just as much as the leadpipe!
It is important to understand that there is nothing wrong with factory stock instruments and these inconsistencies are normal. We have found that there is significant improvement for those who want a better playing instrument. This work must be done by hand, one horn at a time and doesn't really work in a mass produced environment. For more information, please contact us.
