Over and over, our customers tell us our horns are the best they have ever played. They are used in major symphony orchestras, the recording studios of Hollywood and seemingly everywhere in between. They tell us that the intonation and response are greatly improved over similar design types.
"The horn is incredible! From the first 3 notes I knew it was amazing"
- Lisa Cherry - LA freelance player
Perhaps most surprising is the great amount of musical nuance that the horn is capable of.
"People have come and said [the horn] sounds more like a voice than a horn,
others say I sound better now than ever"
- Jamie Hersch - Co-principal horn, Singapore Sym, International Soloist
We have models with large or medium bell throats, in nickel silver or brass with spun or hand hammered bell flares. The bore size is .468.
"The best horn at the show"
- John Ericson - Horn Professor, Arizona State Univ.

Our new descant is a Bb/A-High F horn similar to the older Paxman model 40. Many players prefer this model and since Paxman no longer makes it, we decided to recreate it. Of course we also incorporated some of our own ideas along with substantial improvements. Ours has a large bell which helps to make the High F side sound like a horn, and not like a bugle. The match between the Bb and High F sides is superb as is the intonation, probably due to the newly designed tapered leadpipe and first branch sections. This horn simply does not sound like a descant!

Baroque Horns
We are quite excited and happy to be offering this horn. It is finished with a bell kranz and is painted a stunning red inside the bell. It is pitched at A=415 and is of the master crook and couplers system allowing the keys of G, F, E, Eb & D. Vent holes are included.

After Johann Cristian
Hoffmaster, c. 1730
Classical Horns
This is a faithful reproduction of a cor d'Orchestre horn, in brass, made in the Austro-Bohemian tradition with tuning slide and bell garland. The bore is .441 which is authentic for horns of this era. The bell is similarly authentic in size, not a resized modern french horn bell. The crooks are full formed and are in keys from Bb alto to C basso with key designations in sterling silver. Bb basso is achieved by adding a single coil coupler to the C basso crook. This instrument can be pitched at either A=440 or A=430.

After Nicodemus Pechert,
Vienna, c. 1795.

We are in the process of making a replica of a Cortois Neveu Aine cor d'Orchestre made c. 1820. Patterson Hornworks owns an original and have done a considerable amount of research on it and other similar instruments. At this point, we are able to supply the crooks for this or any French style corpus of the cor d'Orchestre type.
